Halloween Party for Children 18 and under with Special Needs.........Any child with a disability  -can attend with their family. Wednesday October 19th at Playhouse Children's Center in Punxsutawney from 6-8pm. Please RSVP to Bobbie 952-0857. Pumpkins, crafts, playgym, face painting, and games. This is put on by The Arc of Jefferson County's monthly Special Needs Family Support Group/Playgroup out of Punsxy. Free to Attend. Costumes Welcome...but we do ask that no scary costumes be worn.

Will meet the third Thursday of each month from 6 to 8pm.  We will meet at The Playhouse Childrens Center on Lane Avenue in Punxsy.  Bring your children with you for some social activities to do while the parents meet.  All parents and caregivers of children young and old are invited to attend.  If you have any questions please call Bobbie States at 952-3857.

October 4, Special Needs Family Support/Play Group. 
We are excited to host Michelle Hillard from The Mentor Parent Program, Inc to present us with a training on "Communication between Parents and Educators".  With the beginning of the school year upon us, this is a great timing for such a discussion.  Even if you have never joined us for a meeting before, please consider coming to share your questions and comments with the other families that attend.

Open to any parent, grandparent or caregiver of a child with special needs.  Children with Autism, Down Syndrome, Seizure Disorder, FAS, RAD, or any other intellectual or developmental disability welcome.  Come and share your experiences, ask questions, brag about accomplishments, or simply be with others in the same shoes as you are in.  We have about 8 families currently who attend regularly.  We would love to reach out and have even more join us.  We meet at Camp Friendship in Reynoldsville each month on the first Tuesday from 6 to 8pm.  Most months we offer pizza or hot dogs, snacks and drinks.  Some months we have planned speakers, other months we just sit and shoot the breeze.  YES!! You do bring your children.  We have very qualified volunteers who come and watch our children while we meet and have some adult conversations.  Please RSVP if your able to come so we have enough food and volunteers available.  Call Stacy at 814-591-6622 or email stacy@jcarc.org.
